Our Accomplishments

OUR 2013 SUCCESSES

Star Trackers Track & Field Club is blessed with multi-talented athletes and dedicated parents and coaches which were major components of the club's success stories.

Eight (8) athletes were named to the 2013 Carifta Games Team in Nassau, Bahamas. The athletes won seven (7) individual medals and several relay medals; Devynne Charlton and Carmiesha Cox thrilled the home crowd with their "One Two Punch" in the 100m to win the gold and silver respectively, they were also members of the gold medal winning 4x100m relay team. Devynne also won bronze in the 100m hurdles while Carmiesha went on to win bronze in the 200m. Stephen Newbold (collegiate student) Mikhail Bethell and Charles Sealy all won bronze medals in the 400m, 400m hurdles and heptathlon respectively. Stephen also won a bronze medal in the U20 boys 4x400m relay and Mikhail anchored the U17 boys 4x400m relay to a spectacular gold place finish. Other team members were Andriel Strachan, D'Mitry Charlton, and Ashton Butler (US High School student).

Our seniors, Devynne, Carmiesha, Carlisa Russell, Taryn Rolle and Nakita Higgins, travelled to Golden South Classic, Orlando, FL. The team had impressive performances with Carmiesha placing 3rd and 4th in the 100m and 200m respectively, Carlisa winning silver in the 400m hurdles. Our girls 4x100m relay team; Devynne, Carmiesha, Carlisa and Taryn won a bronze medal.

Devynne, Carmiesha, D'Mitry and Nakita participated in the Penn Relays in Philadelphia. Devynne was a part of her high school's historical 4x100m relay team that were finalists in the High School Championships. Carmiesha and Devynne (alternate) were also members of team Bahamas' USA vs the World 4x100m relay which made the World Championships qualifying standard. Stephen also ran on the Bahamas men's 4x400m relay qualifying team.

Several kids and youth athletes; Alexis Rolle, Tanisha Floyd, Anthaya Charlton, Dresyn Culmer, Victoria Green, Pedronae Deveaux, Myles Cooper, Mikhail Bethell, Mark Sawyer and Ma'Lek Sawyer, also competed at the AAU Club Championships in Orlando.

D'Mitry Charlton travelled to Donetsk, Ukraine, as a part of the World Youth Championships Team. Trevorvano Mackey (collegiate athlete) was a member of the CAC Senior Championships 4x100m relay team which set a new National Record in Mexico.

Devynne, Carmiesha, Mikhail, D'Mitry and Carlisa were honoured by the BAAA as All Bahamian Scholar Athletes with Mikhail receiving the żGold Cord of Distinctionż for the student-athlete with the highest GPA. Four (4) of our recent graduates, received scholarships, namely; Carmiesha and Devynne to Purdue University, Andriel to Campbell University, and Nakita to University of Central Arkansas. The club is proud to boast that, since our establishment in 2001, over thirty-five (35) of our student athletes have received scholarships to colleges/universities.
